I think I took about 1 hour and 15-20 mins to complete this whole journey. It was simply fantastic and I love it and would gladly do it again. So, what is the best way to recover from muscle ache ? Ice pack and drinks lot of water thereafter to hydrate my body. Praise the Lord, now I am thinking of a new route for my next run. I am excited as I am heading to get my new sunshades tomorrow, haha. Till then ,stay healthy and stay fit .
This is my 2nd attempt in running this route and I decided to take some pictures to motivate myself for future run. Today run starts at around 1053am, weather is sunny and nice. After warm up, I started running down the block to KTPH direction, crossing my first traffic light. This is the 2nd traffic light, still a breeze as it is 3/4 under shade as you can see from picture. These familiar landmarks serve as a milestone in my running, knowing how far I have completed and how much more to go. Please note that it is not easy to run and take pictures as I am using a mobile phone and it is wrapped in my towel. As I like to listen to sermon when I am running, taking pictures would mean I have to pause, take out the phone , snap the picture and return to youtube to on the music, wrap it back into towel and continue the run. This is near to the Yishun Public Swimming pool and I am at the cross junction. Nice and easy. Further up, you can see the indian temple , nicely painted in Gold and Khatib Camp is on the opposite side of it. Weather is getting hot and I am perspiring. A little up slope and I am at another traffic light before heading to the start of my long journey on Sembawang Road. This is Dieppe Barracks, a easy landmark for identification before the next available traffic light junction. Yup, is me and the sun, the heat reflected on the road and heart pounding. I would slow down where there is some shade to wipe off the excess sweat trickling down from my forehead and regain my composure and catch my breadth before continuing. It is not the speed but the completion of the journey that I am after. Slow and steady, man. Before this zebra crossing, on my right is the Sembawang Country Club, a 30 degree gradient slope up. So, I am panting and huffing for breadth. WTF. Come on, I can do this , I have done this a million times, that is the message that I feed myself. The next traffic light is quite far down, so I took this warehouse on the right as another milestone. This route is first down then up, so I have to conserve my energy. Phew, no sweat ! Still along Sembawang Road, the next landmark is this property showroom on the opposite side. I am beginning to feel the intensity of the heat but I am still going strong. Not giving up at all. This is one of my favourite landmark as you can see on the right is the popular Mandai Zoo. I am sweating a lot , a little thirsty and slowing down a little on my pace so as not to overheat the engine. Can't imagine those guys who run in the desert, how do they do it ? Pushing on, gaining a bit momentum and feeling elated, I am reaching the halfway mark now. I would run across the road and head towards the Springleaf Nature Park route. Beside the people who comes here to fish or the cleaners at the lake, you hardly see any souls on this path. But it is nice as there is a lot of greeneries and an instant calm and peaceful feeling overtake my pounding heart, eager to complete. This is a bend not the end so I gotta preserere and increase my pace as there is not much shade as you can see from the pictures. A little while more, after running past the tunnel, I am now into the Lower Seletar Reservoir Park. Nice shade and my first water point. Oh, how sweet the water taste. Damn shiok. Ah, rubbery legs , can't stop now, Too close to give up, another short distance and I am done. Come on, you can do it man ! I stopped several times to catch my breadth and had short bouts of giving up. On the other side, my willpower is running low and I pray to God to give me strength, relive my reasons to do this run, think of the end point and the rewards I will be getting and I push on once more. This is the last few traffic junction but I am too tired to stop and snap the picture , focusing on conserving my last bar of energy to complete as fast as I could.
I think I took about 1 hour and 15-20 mins to complete this whole journey. It was simply fantastic and I love it and would gladly do it again. So, what is the best way to recover from muscle ache ?
