That is why I constantly urge my team to dream big, challenge assumptions and push the boundaries of their thinking. I tell them to acquire new knowledge, explore new markets, learn about new technologies and forge new partnerships. As we say, "don't try, don't know". Just make sure that if we fail, we fail fast, and fail cheap.
Yes, indeed, the technological disruptions that we are all experiencing globally is indeed making a dramatic shift in the way we live, communicate, travel, etc. Our children will encounter a totally new landscape, one that is full of opportunities and excitement.
If your answer and mine (at least initially) would to put the blame on the Government who create the education system, our parents who lack the foresight to send us abroad, our lack of high flyer friends with strong connections and so on and so forth, you are not alone.
Until and unless we take up full responsibility for the situation we are in and stop pointing finger on external parties, we would fail to learn something valuable and miss an opportunity to reveal our latent potential. We are where we are today (whatever that we are unhappy with - career, relationship, health, money, etc) due to our own erroneous thinking. It might sounds harsh or critical but if one remains open and learn to accept this truth, it is difficult to change. Our position will not improve by attempting to change the behaviour of others.
Now glory be to God, by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of — infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes.” Ephesians 3:20 (LB)
Perhaps, we make many futile attempts to do well but still failed and become disheartened to read another "pick-me-up" article. Trust me, I too was there before until I changed my attitude drastically and start taking baby steps towards my goal.
Men put too much attention on the means to the end that he is constantly seeking out the next method, system that if he knew, he would not fail. It is working on the step 1 towards reaching step 3. I wrote an article about reversing this order here. To spend more time at step 3 (or the end) and imagine the wish fulfilled is a new experience that I am encountering as well. I have also blog some of the success stories I had using this method and expanding to other areas of my life.
Assumptions when persisted will turn into facts - Neville Goddard. Call it assumptions, dream, imagination as you like but the core of this sentence is the word - persistency which if given to run at full course would turn our assumptions into facts. And facts , we must not limit it to what our external senses are telling us (see, hear and feel). Our qualifications, background, financial standing, etc are not the reasons nor excuses why we are not able to get to where we are. It is the inner conversation that goes between our ears.
Sensation precedes manifestation. This sensation occur in the future can be brought forward to your present moment and experience in full spectrum. Get into the mental act of act as if your goal is accomplished. What conversation would you have with your loved ones? What would they say? How would you behave from this moment onwards?
You may not want to nor comfortable to answer this questions because it has not yet happened and think that it is nothing but wishful thinking, unrealistic and unscientific. I can fully understand and totally relate to it. I was in that situation before.
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us:
And if we know that he hear us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.1 John 5.14-15
Ask anything, whatever we ask from God is given to us NOT will be given to us. This is why many who pray ceaselessly are still unable to get their prayers answered. They are begging God to fulfil their wishes but in their heart, they do not concur they are worthy of receiving the gift. So, there exist a conflict of agreement.
Dream big, challenge assumptions and push the boundaries of your thinking.
