There seems to be some similarities and differences in each pattern but it does provide the viewer a certain perspective of what it is about. Take the Bible, there too lies a pattern. If one would to read the words daily without involving spiritual or religious involvement, it could serve as a good motivation tool. Read these verses below :
Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."
When I read this and especially if I am down with some mind block, it comforts my soul and let me know I am not alone and that I should look things on the bright side of life.
Romans 8:18
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
To the person who is undergoing some kind of challenges, be it financial, relationship or physical wellbeing, the pain or suffering is unbearable. This verse sheds light at the end of the tunnel, reminding us that the end is near and the sufferings are necessary for us to appreciate what we are going to receive soon.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.
For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (NIV)
This is one of my favourite - For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Have you encounter a situation where no matter what you do, how you do it , you are still stuck in the situation and never able to get out of the hole (much like the rat running in the maze). Because we see with our naked eyes, we see what lies ahead of us, the present moment that we are in but our future , the eternal part is in the making and the eyes cannot see it (the unseen part). It may sounds paradoxical and confusing to some but one has to experience it to be able to relate to this verse.
James 1:2-4
Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Here, it tells me that the trials that we go through is not for nothing. It serves a purpose, it moulds our character and improves our endurance. I am reminded of my recent run in the hot afternoon sun. It was unbearable but I kept on pushing myself, reminding I had done this a million times before and the relief I would receive. I let the result be brought forward in my mind while pushing the wobbly legs to take one more step and the heart to keep on pumping. I refused to give up.
Did you see the patterns in the Bible? Like a mirror, what we see in ourselves is what is reflected as the image. If you think negatively, then the mirror merely reflects what you want to see. That is its purpose and it is impartial. What is interesting is we can change our perception of things or the patterns of our thoughts just as fast as we would allow ourselves to be.
